Cookie Policy

This English translation is provided for convenience; the Italian version is the legally binding one.

Definitions, characteristics and application of the legislation

Cookies are small text files that the sites visited by users send to and store on their computer or mobile device, to be sent back to the same sites on the next visit. It is precisely thanks to cookies that a site remembers a user’s actions and preferences (such as login details, chosen language, font size, other display settings, etc.), so that they do not have to be entered again when the user returns to that site or moves from one of its pages to another. Cookies are therefore used for computer authentication, session monitoring and storing information about the activities of users who access a site, and they may also contain a unique identification code that makes it possible to track the user’s browsing within the site itself for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a site, users may also receive on their computer cookies from sites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called “third-party” cookies). Some operations could not be performed without cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically
necessary for the site to function at all. There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions. They may remain on the user’s computer for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until a preset expiration date.
Under the legislation in force in Italy, the user’s express consent is not always required for the use of cookies. In particular, such consent is not required for “technical cookies”, that is, cookies used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies that are essential for the site to work or necessary to perform activities requested by the user. Among the technical cookies that do not require express consent, the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali; see its Provision “Identification of simplified arrangements for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies” of 8 May 2014 and subsequent clarifications, hereinafter simply the “Provision”) also includes:

● “analytics cookies”, where used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site;
● browsing cookies or session cookies (for authentication);
● functionality cookies, which allow users to browse according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language or products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to them.

For “profiling cookies”, on the other hand, that is, cookies aimed at creating user profiles and used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing online, the user’s prior consent is required.

Types of cookies used by the Site and how to (de)select them

Manuele Ferraro, as Data Controller (hereinafter the “Controller”), uses third-party cookies on the website intelya.it (hereinafter the “Site”) for those third parties’ own purposes. Please note that these third parties, listed below with links to their privacy policies, are typically independent controllers of the data collected through the cookies they serve; you should therefore refer to their personal data processing policies, information notices and consent forms (selection and deselection of their cookies), as specified in the aforementioned Provision. These third parties are also responsible for any additional cookies sent through our site as a result of services used by the third parties themselves. The Controller has no way of exercising any control over such cookies and knows neither their characteristics nor their purposes. For the sake of completeness, please note that the Controller does its utmost to keep track of the cookies on its Site. They are regularly updated in the table below, where we provide transparency about the cookies sent directly by the Controller and their purposes.
